Last week, one of our customers called to talk to us about his struggling direct sales business. His chief complaint was his upline – who had gone MIA. She was supposed to help him get started, he explained. She could have put 3 people in his downline by now, or at least planned a demonstration for him. How could he possibly be successful if his upline wasn’t providing the training and support that he desperately needs?

Our answer wasn’t at all what he expected.

The industry loves to tell new sellers that they NEED an upline, but all that does is keep you from the success you set out for. It becomes an objection in your own head that keeps you from taking ACTION and moving forward.
The moment you start believing the lie, you’re in trouble. In fact, it will eventually kill your business. There is no doubt that a supportive upline can certainly be an asset to your business. But no successful network marketer has ever attributed his or her accomplishments to a sponsor.
The entire point of becoming an entrepreneur was to work FOR yourself. That means you’re the boss.
You don’t work for your upline, and she doesn’t work for you.

What you think, you become.
What you dream, you attract.
If you spend your time WAITING on your upline to give you what you think you need, your business will remain in stagnant.
Waiting. Inactive.

You don’t need a better upline; you need a better frame of mind.
