SEO for Network Marketers: Why (and how) to learn it

Before you read any further, let’s set the record straight. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) might be intimidating, but it is completely attainable by any network marketer who is willing to invest the time and learn the tricks.

You’ve got this!

Why Your Business Needs SEO

If you sell something, you want customers to find you.

If you offer a service, you want clients to find you.

It’s that simple.

Imagine your parents want to retire in beautiful Costa Rica – the happiest place on Earth. You may feel nervous about them being so far away from you in their advancing age, so after discussing the options you agree to purchase a home automation system for their Costa Rican home. This system will allow you to check in on them and help them manage their home from afar.

What is your next step? You would probably navigate to Google.com and search for “Costa Rica home automation”. Despite the fact that there are “About 1,520,000 results” you would most likely click on the very first one: Signal Secure – The Future of Home Automation and Security. The title sounds like it’s exactly what you’re looking for, and isn’t it convenient not to scroll or navigate to another page?

This is SEO. You see, no matter how many pages of results the search engine generates for your prospects and clients, 91.5% of them will only see the first page. You NEED to be on that very first page if you want website traffic. And the higher you are the better. In fact, since Signal Secure is ranked #1 they will receive 32.5% of all clicks. The company listed in the second position will get clicked 17.6% of the time, the third position will get 11.4%, and it tapers off from there.

7 Tips for SEO

There is no immediate trick to making it on the first search result page. It’s not attainable overnight. It takes constant, dedicated, informed Search Engine Optimization techniques to get that beautiful prime real estate. Here is a very brief overview of how to get ranked on search engines:

1. Get a Website

Before you start working on optimizing your online property, you need a web presence. If you don’t already have a business website, that is your top priority.

2. Find your Keywords

What are your customers searching for when they look for your services? Your goal is to rank well in the terms that bring in your ideal customer. To do this, you need a Keyword Research tool. There are many tools to choose from, but Google’s Keyword Planner is free and user-friendly. You need to first create an account with Google Adwords (but don’t worry, you don’t have to pay for Adwords advertisements in order to use the free Keyword Research tool). After you have an account, click “Tools and Analysis” on the main menu and then select “Keyword Planner.” Now you can search for keywords in your industry or enter keywords to see how they perform.

4. Get a Blog

Blog content is the fresh nutritious content that feeds search engines and significantly increases your ranking. You need 2 or 3 new blogs every week that are hearty with keywords (strategically and sparingly placed, of course). This can be a time-consuming task, but it is a surefire way to put you on that first page.
