If you want your team members to stay and grow alongside you, it is essential for you to spark the fire and constantly motivate them. You want them to be excited every day about attaining mutual success together! This will boost your collective productivity and help you work as one cohesive, well-oiled unit.

Here are 5 easy tips to EMPOWER and GROW your network marketing team:

1. Target Training

You’re a champ at target marketing different niches, right? Well, now it’s time for target training. Take a hard look at your downline marketers, and group them into 3 or 4 different categories: the Gung-Ho Business Builders, the Part-Timers, the New Sellers, the Struggling Sellers, etc. Instead of splitting your time evenly between all the different groups, think strategically about how to divide your time between them and create a plan that makes sense. Train and communicate in groups to maximize your time. Focus on:

Teaching the Business Builders how to replicate success

Motivating the Part-Timers to develop into Business Builders

Training 101 (or delegating training) for the New Sellers

Engaging in concise, truthful (and sometimes difficult) conversations with the Strugglers. If they take up too much of your time and are unwilling to learn or work harder, this opportunity may not be for them. If they simply need more training, pair them up with a Business Builder mentor who will help them set realistic goals.

2. Remember that “Appreciate” is an Action Verb

Lack of Support is 1 of the 4 reasons why network marketers fail. Don’t let your team members become a statistic! No matter how busy you are, you always have time to show your respect and appreciation for your team. It’s as easy as answering the phone, returning emails thoroughly and promptly, giving them your full attention when you engage in conversation, paying for lunch, and showing up to help them with a sales pitch. When you’re creating your goals and schedule for the week, make a list of 1 or 2 actions you can take to show an individual team member or downline group your support and appreciation.

3. Be an Inspirational Broken Record

Emails, blogs, social media marketing, event training… you see the big picture, but your downline may be getting stuck in the day-to-day tasks. Becoming a wealthy, successful entrepreneur is a lifestyle, and so much more than the accumulation of a daily or weekly agenda. As a team leader, YOU are the inspirational speaker! YOU are the one responsible for directing your team’s focus back to the Big Picture! Every email, every phone call, and every Facebook post is a step toward the ultimate goal of financial freedom. Make sure you never lose sight of that yourself, and you constantly remind your team why they signed up in the first place. There is PURPOSE in everything you do!

4. Open Door, Open Book

No matter if you’re an introvert or an extrovert, you’ve got to have an approachable open door. Your downline needs your expertise, support, and assistance to succeed on this unfamiliar terrain. Encourage them to call you with questions, give lots of positive and constructive feedback when you observe their sales presentation, and be open to their own suggestions for the team. Open communication is your key to unlocking success your downline.

When it comes to communicating with your team, keep in mind that the words you speak only amount to 7% your overall communication. 55% of communication is body language and 38% is paraverbal (pitch, speed, tone of voice, and volume). Make sure your facial expressions, voice, and body language matches your words so they SEE and HEAR your message.

5. Share Your WHOLE Story (the failures and the wins)

Remember back when you were a new network marketer? There was a huge learning curve, and probably a lot of bumps in the road to get where you are now. Tell them about the time you heard “no” a hundred times before you heard “yes.” Share what happened when you froze up during a sales presentation, and how you’ve overcome your stage fright. Show them pictures of your first incentive trip to Cancun. You never know which part of your story will resonate with someone, so don’t leave any details out.

Do you have any other helpful tips on empowering your downline and boosting productivity?
